Mumbai: Mumbai police have ramped up security arrangements for New Year’s Eve celebrations. A total of 2,184 police officers and 12,048 police enforcers, including 8 additional police commissioners, 29 deputy commissioners of police, and 53 assistant commissioners of police, have been deployed.
Officials said tourist places as well as crowded areas such as Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Juhu beach, Worli Seaface, Bandstand, and Marve in Malad would see heightened vigilance. “With various events organised in public places, hotels, malls, and other establishments, Mumbai police will be out in full force to maintain law and order,” said Satyanarayan Chaudhary, joint commissioner of police (law and order).
