CM asks officials to use AI for rd safety, scrap 15-year-plus vehicles

Mumbai: While reviewing the 100-day plan of the state transport department on Monday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis directed that artificial intelligence (AI) be used to reduce road accidents as per the accord with Google. He also asked officials to enforce the rules to scrap vehicles which were over 15 years old, including old ST buses and 13,000 govt vehicles.
He said a new electronic vehicle (EV) policy should be announced in the next 3 years. He said bike taxis and maxi cabs should be introduced to boost transport services.
While reviewing the cultural affairs department plans, Fadnavis said producers should be given immediate online permission to shoot in Maharashtra through a single window. Also, the rates charged should be reduced so the cinematography of Marathi films can be done on a large scale at ND Studio in Goregaon.
He directed a special celebration be held for the tercentenary of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar and a year-long plan should be made to ensure her work reaches schools, colleges and universities.
Fadnavis said migrant workers should be given smart ration cards and arrangements made to ensure that regardless of which state the migrant workers belong to, they can avail of foodgrains at any fair price shop in the state.
He also directed in the upcoming year, 25 lakh new beneficiaries should be included in the public distribution system, and their e-KYC and verification should be completed. A special campaign should be conducted to include 14 lakh non-computerised beneficiaries in ration cards, he said.
A minimum of 13 lakh houses will be approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. For this, the first instalment of Rs 450 crore should soon be distributed to the housing scheme beneficiaries.
