Mumbai: The Shiv Sena (UBT) has a new office in Parliament. Office 128 A was inaugurated on Thursday. The Sena (UBT) was allotted an office more than two years after the party split in 2022, and the Sena led by Eknath Shinde was recognised as the real Shiv Sena. The Sena (UBT) has 9 Lok Sabha MPs and two Rajya Sabha MPs. The office was inaugurated by MP Sanjay Raut.
In 2023, after their office in Vidhan Bhavan, the state legislature, Sena (UBT) lost their party office in Parliament House in New Delhi too. The Lok Sabha Secretariat allotted the Shiv Sena office in Parliament House to the Sena led by Shinde after the Election Commission’s (EC) decision to recognise the faction as the real Shiv Sena. Responding to a letter written by then Sena MP Rahul Shewale, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said the designated room for the Sena office in the Parliament building was allotted to the party.
A letter from Sunanda Chatterjee, deputy secretary in the Lok Sabha Secretariat to Shewale, stated that Room No. 128 in Parliament House was allotted to the Shiv Sena party. Soon after the dispute over the real Shiv Sena began, both Sena factions were using the party office in Parliament House. Once the room was allotted to the Shinde faction as the Shiv Sena party office, MPs from the Uddhav faction were left without an office in Parliament House. The party then made a request for the allotment of a new office.
