THANE: As many as 81 private schools, apparently affiliated with central and international boards, are operating illegally within the Thane corporation limits, officials informed on Monday.
The corporation, which is in the process of issuing public notices identifying the schools and taking action against the respective managements, has now appealed to parents to exercise caution while seeking admissions to educational institutes across the city.
The administration has urged parents to reach out to the local civic offices or check with the education department to ensure that the respective schools are operating after securing mandatory approvals.
“Around 81 schools, of which two each are Hindi and Marathi medium schools while 77 are English medium schools, were declared illegal. Some of these schools claim to have affiliation with prominent boards, and so we have cautioned parents before securing admissions in such facilities for the next academic year,” informed a civic official.
