THANE: One person died while another suffered grievous injuries after a tempo driver lost control over his vehicle and collided into two autos on Ghodbunder road, early Monday, officials informed.
The incident occurred around 3am near Anand Nagar signal when the tempo driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the autos and later nosedived into a nearby trench dug for metro rail pillar work.
Initial information revealed the victims are auto drivers who were seated in their vehicles waiting for passengers when the mishap occurred, informed Yasin Tadvi, in-charge at the Thane regional disaster management cell.
Following the mishap, the victims were rushed to the govt hospital where one was declared dead while the other is recuperating.
The Kasarwadavli police have nabbed the tempo driver and are investigating the case further, officials informed.
