NEW DELHI: Ahead of New Year celebrations, the Mumbai Police have ramped up security measures across the city to ensure the safety of citizens.
Popular gathering spots such as Marine Drive, Gateway of India, and others along the CSMT-Churchgate route will experience heightened vigilance during the festive season.
Alcohol screening & Women’s coach security
To prevent any illegal activities, thorough screenings will be conducted to ensure individuals under the influence of alcohol do not enter railway stations. Dedicated officers will also be stationed in all women’s coaches to enhance security for female passengers.
Special trains on December 31
Additionally, Central and Western Railways have announced the operation of special trains on December 31 to facilitate timely and safe returns for revelers.

The police have urged women to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or illegal activities by calling the helpline number 1512. The department has assured a prompt response within 5 to 10 minutes to any complaints.

“People gather at places like Marine Drive, Gateway of India etc to celebrate and take the CSMT-Churchgate route. We are trying to ensure that no illegal activity takes place at such places and screening will be done to ensure that no one enters the station under the influence of alcohol. One officer will be deployed in all women coaches. Central and Western Railways will start special trains on December 31 to ensure people return home on time. All women are requested that if you see any illegal activity, immediately call 1512, you will get a response within 5 to 10 minutes,” said Railway police commissioner, Ravindra Shisve.
