MUMBAI: The Shivaji Park police have detained a 30-year-old man for the brutal murder of an individual. Police said the victim, Chandan, had been bludgeoned with a stone last week.
Last Friday, police had found the body of an unknown man near Rukmini Sadan building at Shivaji Park. The deceased was later identified as Chandan, 40.
A post-mortem examination showed that he had died of serious head injuries caused by a blunt object.
Police then started examining CCTV footage. They found an image of the suspect. Inquiries revealed that the suspect was a ragpicker and had been spotted with Chandan. The suspect was picked up and is being questioned. Sources said the suspect’s clothes were bloodstained and a stone was also recovered from him.
