THANE: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Thane-Palghar district president, Avinash Jadhav, announced his resignation from the party on Sunday, taking responsibility for his party’s defeat in the assembly elections in his region. The resignation was not accepted by party chief Raj Thackeray until late Sunday.
In the letter addressed to Thackeray and signed by Jadhav, the leader said he was accepting responsibility for the MNS defeat in the state elections in Thane and Palghar districts as the party President of the region.
Jadhav, who contested the 2024 Thane assembly seat, lost to BJP’s sitting MLA Sanjay Kelkar and was pushed to the third position, polling barely 18.3% of the votes.
“I have submitted my resignation from the district president post but will continue to hold other responsibilities in the party. I will nonetheless be accessible to Thane residents whenever they need my assistance,” said Jadhav.
