Maharashtra aims to become fintech capital under PM Narendra Modi's vision: Dy CM Eknath Shinde
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the Maharashtra government is dedicated to transforming Mumbai into a fintech powerhouse, aligning with PM Modi’s vision.

THANE: Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde said the state govt is committed to realising the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform Mumbai into a fintech powerhouse in the coming years.
Shinde spoke at a business conclave in Thane on Saturday evening, where he said Maharashtra is the growth engine of the country and is poised to contribute a lion’s share to the PM’s 5 trillion dollar economy dream by 2047.
“PM Modi said that Mumbai has the potential to become the financial powerhouse, and we will work towards making it the fintech capital. Maharashtra is the country’s growth engine and will contribute one trillion dollars towards the PM’s vision of making Bharat (India) a five trillion dollar economy by 2047. In fact, the Niti Aayog has also observed that Mumbai and the metropolitan region alone have the potential to generate a 1.5 trillion dollar economy,” he said.
Assuring the assembled business heads, Shinde spoke of instructing the industries minister to ensure that no business leaves Maharashtra. Targeting the MVA over the Vedanta Foxconn deal, Shinde blamed the previous govt (led by Uddhav Thackeray), saying that PM Modi once told him that the company approached the then state govt but didn’t receive the desired cooperation and assistance, which led the conglomerate to approach other states.
“Maharashtra is leading with 52% FDI in the country. Our govt wants businesses to grow here, and our govt is extending full support in terms of infrastructure, connectivity, trained labour, and facilities. I appeal to you to form clusters and set up businesses along the super highways that have been constructed in the state,” he said, elaborating on the business potential along the recently constructed Samruddhi super highway, among others.
