THANE: In a freak mishap, a machine deployed by a municipal contractor for producing fertilisers caught fire in Mumbra on Saturday morning. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident, officials informed.
Yasin Tadvi, in charge at the Thane regional disaster management cell, informed that the fire broke out around 9 am at the fertiliser-producing unit powered by the Thane municipal corporation, located near M M Valley in Mumbra.
“Prima facie observations revealed the machine used to generate compost fertiliser overheated, triggering a minor fire and smoke. Civic rescue teams were alerted and doused the blaze. The incident will be further investigated,” informed officials.
