Kunal Kamra wants Blinkit CEO to ‘enlighten’ on average wages paid to ‘Delivery Partners’ in 2024

Kunal Kamra has posed a question to Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa. Replying to an X (formerly Twitter) post by Dhindsa about orders on New Year’s eve, the comedian asked him to “enlighten us with data on the average wages you paid your “Delivery Partners” in 2024…” Dhindsa shared multiple posts on X, giving live updates on the most-ordered items from the quick commerce platform. He wrote “1,22,356 packs of condoms..45,531 bottles of mineral water..22,322 Partysmart..2,434 Eno..are enroute right now! Prep for after party? 😅”.

Albinder’s post caught Kamra’s attention who commented “Can you also enlighten us with data on the average wages you paid your “Delivery Partners” in 2024…”.

In a followup post, Karma wrote:
While we enjoy the convenience of quick commerce I’d like my first tweet of 2025 to be about the dark side.
Platform owners exploit gig workers & they aren’t job creators.
They are landlords without owning any land.
They don’t have a bone of creativity or innovation all they do is exploit people by offering them freedom that they can’t afford while giving them wages that can’t meet their aspirations.
They are thugs that are using data as oil without paying for the oil fields.
Someday there will be regulation that humbles them…

How X users reacted

Commenting on the post, one user said “They are providing opportunities to unskilled individuals who have no other means of earning money, but these opportunities are short-term and somehow fail to inspire them to work toward achieving their dreams 🫠 but its still something :)”.
“Kunal, would like to know if you employ anyone akin to gig workers like domestic help? And how much do you pay them?,” asked another user. “Absolutely agree with the concern you have cited here. Especially in countries like India people are lured by creating fake success stories and paid influencer sponsorship,” wrote another.
