THANE: A fire broke out in the Hyper City mall at Kasarwadavli, Ghodbunder Road, Tuesday morning, officials said.
No one was injured in the incident as the mall had not yet been made operational.
Officials, based on an initial probe, said the fire broke out in a shoe store located on the first floor of the mall around 7am.
Locals spotted dense smoke billowing out of the store and alerted the rescue teams, who rushed to the spot. Prima facie observation revealed that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze, which damaged major shoe stock stored inside. Rescue officials managed to contain the blaze.
Senior officials, including the deputy civic commissioner and incharge of the Regional Disaster Management Cell, Gajanan Godhepure, also rushed to the site.
The cause of the blaze will be investigated.
