KALYAN: A 2-year-old child’s life was saved due to the alertness of a youth in Dombivli. The child fell from the balcony on the third floor of the building while playing. At that time, the youth, Bhavesh Mhatre, present there, immediately saw the child and ran to catch him.
In this incident, due to the force of the child falling, he slipped from Mhatre’s hand and fell back, which reduced the force, and the child suffered only minor injuries.
The incident took place on a Sunday afternoon in the Devichapada area of Dombivli (East), where the child lived in a 13-storey building. While playing, he reached the balcony of the flat next to the child where the glass of the grill was removed to apply colour on the grill, causing the child to fall from that open space.
When the child fell, Bhavesh Mhatre came to meet a friend below the building. He saw the child falling and immediately rushed to save him. During this time, a person also came between him and the child, whom Mhatre pushed away to catch the child.
Mhatre said that the child fell with a lot of force, which caused the child to fall despite being caught. Mhatre mentioned that while falling, the force was reduced, resulting in the child suffering minor injuries.
Mhatre told TOI, “I play cricket, so I have the habit of catching a ball, and when I saw the child falling, my habit helped me rush immediately to save him.”
The incident was witnessed by many people in the building, who are praising Mhatre a lot for his courage. The child’s family also thanked Mhatre for saving their child’s life.
