Mumbai: No BJP party worker will get an appointment in any govt committee or corporation, from the taluka level to the state level, unless he becomes an active member of the party, said party state unit president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday.
“Everyone from the booth president to the state president will have to be an active member,” he said.
Addressing a press conference at the state party headquarters here, Bawankule said the party is aiming to enrol five lakh active members. An active member is one who works for the party.
Bawankule said since the membership drive kicked off on Jan 5 the party had enrolled a crore members and in the next 10 days it will add another 50 lakh. For this, he, along with the party state unit executive president Ravindra Chavan, will tour the state from Thursday.
Once the membership drive is completed, the party will hold elections for appointments from the booth level onwards, and a new state president of the party will be elected in March. “The 1.5 crore primary members, five lakh active members, 1.86 lakh booth presidents, and 1,000 mandals will strengthen the party organisation,” he said.
