KALYAN: A 23-year-old man was arrested for inappropriately touching a lady commuter inside a mail express train near Kalyan. The lady, after reaching Kalyan railway station, raised an alarm, after which Kalyan GRP personnel present at the railway station caught the accused on the spot and later arrested him.
The accused was identified as Mavia Sheikh, a resident of the Bardan Gully area in Kalyan. The Kalyan GRP said the victim, a woman who works as a software developer in Mumbai, was travelling in an express train on Thursday at 8pm to return home to Kalyan from her office. While in the general compartment, Sheikh, who was standing behind her, touched her inappropriately.
A GRP official said that after the victim reached Kalyan railway station, she asked for help from our GRP personnel stationed at the railway station, who immediately caught the accused, who also alighted at the railway station.
The official said the accused was booked under molestation charges, and further investigation is ongoing.
