Mumbai: A BEST bus driver was assaulted, and the bus was damaged by three youngsters in an incident of road rage recently. Borivali Police registered an FIR and took the trio into custody.
Police said the accused were in their early twenties and were travelling in a car. They are college-goers. On Friday, the complainant was steering a BEST bus at Borivli West when it brushed the car. The owner of the car was livid as the vehicle was brand new. He stepped out and started yelling at the bus driver.
Police said the car owner tried to drag the BEST bus driver out. When he wouldn’t step outside, the accused started to hit him and smashed his window pane. He also pulled him by the shirt, causing his uniform to tear. His two friends, who were travelling with him in the car, smashed a mirror and wiper of the bus.
After the incident was reported to the Borivali police, the trio was arrested. A case was registered under provisions of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita for assaulting a public servant.
