Yamaha Aerox electric revealed: 3kWh battery, 106 km range and more

Yamaha Motor India is all set to enter the electric two-wheeler market with the new Yamaha Aerox electric, dubbed as Aerox E. The electric maxi scooter will be launched sometime in early 2026 with prices expected to start from over 2.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Complete details regarding specifications, deliveries and more will be announced later. Meanwhile, here’s what has been revealed so far.

Yamaha Aerox electric design

When it comes to design, the Aerox-E clearly carries forward the sporty DNA of its petrol sibling. The aggressive twin LED headlamps and sleek LED tail-lamp setup remain familiar, maintaining the sharp, dynamic look. What’s new, though, is the addition of a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, replacing the conventional LCD display seen on the ICE version. Yamaha says it has also tweaked the ergonomics to make the electric version more engaging to ride. The electric version also has few minor changes, including blue accents all around and also the underseat storage has been reduced due to the placement of batteries and revised styling.

Yamaha Aerox electric features

Powering the Aerox electric is a 9.5kW motor paired with two removable 1.5kWh battery packs. Together, they deliver 48Nm of torque, and Yamaha says the setup uses high-energy cells designed to maximise performance and efficiency. The electric scooter is claimed to cover up to 106km on a single charge and tips the scales at 139kg which is about 13kg more than the ICE Aerox 155. The Aerox-E comes equipped with multiple ride modes – Eco, Standard, and Power – along with a special Boost mode that offers a quick surge of performance for effortless overtakes. Braking hardware includes a front disc with ABS and a rear disc, ensuring confident stopping power.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said, “India is central to Yamaha’s global growth strategy — a market where we see immense potential across both premium and electric mobility segments. The introduction of the XSR brand, our new EV models and the FZ-Rave mark a decisive step in strengthening our presence and aligning with India’s evolving mobility landscape. With these launches, we are deepening our connect with riders who seek performance, design, and technology, while also responding to the nation’s transition towards sustainable transportation. Our focus remains on creating value in India — through products built for its diverse customers, supported by India’s vision of Viksit Bharat and guided by Yamaha’s global Environmental Plan 2050.”
