Vivek Ramaswamy: Vivek Ramaswamy shuts down senator who said only billionaires blocking spending deal

Vivek Ramaswamy shuts down senator who said only billionaires blocking spending deal
Vivek Ramaswamy asked Chris Murphy not to use American soldiers as smokescreen to increase his salary.

Vivek Ramaswamy shut Dem senator Chris Murphy down over the contentious spending bill after Chris Murphy said that it’s only the billionaires like Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy and Donald Trump who are opposing the spending bill because they will get paid anyway. Murphy said if the spending bill is not passed and a government shutdown happens it’s the federal workers, the soldiers, TSA agents who will not get paid.
“What Musk and Ramaswamy and Trump are doing – shutting down the government and cutting off pay for our troops right at Christmas – is so so dark. They are so filthy wealthy and out of touch and bored that they think it’s fun to mess with the lives of regular people for fun,” Murphy said.
Ramaswamy asked him to not use the troops as a smokescreen for the salary hike of the senators sneaked inside the 1,500-page bill. “The failed CR billed tried to sneak in salary increases & health benefits for Congressmen & Senators, while they were blowing hard-earned taxpayer $$ on special interests. We can disagree on policy @ChrisMurphyCT, but don’t use our troops as a smokescreen for your own salary hike,” Ramaswamy said.

Donald Trump and JD Vance pushed for a funding bill with an increase in the debt ceiling without giveaways to Democrats. “Increasing the debt ceiling is not great but we’d rather do it on Biden’s watch. If Democrats won’t cooperate on the debt ceiling now, what makes anyone think they would do it in June during our administration? Let’s have this debate now,” their joint statement said.
“Congress is considering a spending bill that would give sweetheart provisions for government censors and for Liz Cheney. The bill would make it easier to hide the records of the corrupt January 6 committee—which accomplished nothing for the American people and hid security failures that happened that day. This bill would also give Congress a pay increase while many Americans are struggling this Christmas,” the statement added.

What is a spending bill?

The federal government’s fiscal year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30, requiring Congress to pass a set of appropriations bills by the end of September to fund operations. If Congress fails to act, legal safeguards prevent executive agencies from spending money without legislative approval, effectively limiting government functions. The deadline to pass a continuing resolution (CR), which is a temporary funding patch, is 11:59:59 pm ET on Friday. Without one, the federal government enters a partial shutdown on Saturday, Dec. 21.
