Vasai: Manikpur police on Tuesday registered an FIR against Dr Dharmendra Dubey, chief doctor at Breath Care Hospital in Vasai (W), for culpable homicide not amounting to murder over a patient’s death last year.
On the night of March 18, 2024, Rupesh Gupta (27) was admitted to Breath Care Hospital for severe chest pain. After he died during treatment, his relatives alleged negligence.

The case was investigated by the Palghar district surgeon’s office, which verified the in-patient department documents and other papers, and sent its final report to Manikpur police station. The report stated that according to the notes mentioned on the case paper, the patient was not checked by Dr Dubey but was treated by the RMOs. The FIR also mentioned that CCTV cameras at the hospital showed that the patient was taken to the pathology lab for a scan without oxygen support.
When contacted on Wednesday, Dr Dubey refused to comment on the FIR.
