Use tech to boost revenue, CM tells officials

Mumbai: The state excise dept must focus on increasing revenue by implementing new concepts and using modern technology, said CM Devendra Fadnavis, reminding officials that it is an important revenue-generating dept.
Excise officials were directed to work on installing digital locks on vehicles transporting liquor. Out of 134 services notified under the Service Guarantee Act in this department, 62 services are operational, and the remaining 72 services should be made online, he said.
On Wednesday, Fadnavis held a review of the next 100 days’ plans of the excise and revenue dept at the Sahyadri state guest house.
In the case of the revenue dept, he was informed that a faceless system will be implemented for registering certain revenue-related documents so that citizens can register their documents from home.
Fadnavis said the One State One Registration concept will be implemented so that citizens from any part of the state can register their documents at any secondary registrar’s office in the state. Further, e-measurement based on GIS technology will be implemented in the state for land measurement. In the first phase, land measurement centres will be started in 30 offices to make all the services of the land records department available to the citizens like the passport office.
