Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive has launched ‘UVLYNC’, a new charging solution priced at Rs 2,999, allowing electric two-wheeler owners across brands to access over 4,000 AC car charging stations across India. With this launch, the Bengaluru-based company has not only expanded the charging options for its own F77 electric motorcycle but has also provided a solution for all E2W riders looking to charge their vehicles at existing AC car chargers.
Ultraviolette UVLYNC: All you need to know
UVLYNC is a Type 2 charging adapter, designed to connect electric two-wheelers with the widespread AC car charging infrastructure in the country. This development is particularly significant for riders who want to take their electric motorcycles or scooters on longer journeys, as it removes the dependency on limited two-wheeler charging stations.
Ultraviolette says that with this new charging solution, the company aims to encourage long-distance touring and intercity travel. The company has recognized the need for a standardized and widely accessible charging solution, which includes over 1,00,000 AC Type 2 car chargers across India.
AC EV charging (Alternating Current EV charging) is the most common way to charge electric vehicles at home or work. It connects the vehicle to the electrical grid, where the onboard charger converts AC power into DC power, which is then stored in the battery. Using the UVLYNC connector, owners of electric two wheelers, irrespective of the brand, will be able to connect these AC chargers to their vehicles and thus, access a wide range of EV chargers across the country.
