Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation cracks down on abandoned vehicles to ease traffic congestion

ULHASNAGAR: After taking action against hawkers in Ulhasnagar with the objective of making the city encroachment-free, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has now started taking action against vehicles parked on the roads. Under this initiative, action was taken against a total of 49 abandoned vehicles in the city.
Sources said UMC Commissioner Vikas Dhakane ordered all the assistant commissioners and ward committees to take strict action to ensure that all the major roads in the UMC area remain encroachment-free. It was observed that abandoned vehicles were lying in many places on the main roads of the city, causing traffic congestion.
Acting on UMC commissioner’s orders, all ward officers, with the help of police, started action against such abandoned vehicles. It was observed that 49 abandoned vehicles were lying on the main roads of Ulhasnagar city.

UMC

A UMC official informed that the vehicle owners were warned to remove the vehicles by putting notices on them as per the rules. After putting notices on the vehicles, a total of 37 vehicles were removed from the main roads.
However, as it was seen that some vehicles were not removed, 12 abandoned vehicles were collected by taking joint action with the traffic police.
The UMC stated that the above action will continue against abandoned vehicles on the main roads of Ulhasnagar city.
Recently, after being re-elected as MLA, BJP MLA Kumar Ailani demanded UMC take strict action against all illegal hawkers in the city, after which action against illegal hawkers started across the city. Meanwhile, the people of the city have heaved a sigh of relief after action was taken against the vehicles abandoned on the road for many days.
