Mumbai: An autorickshaw driver died on the spot, and two passengers were injured in a collision between the rickshaw and a car in Naigaon early Thursday. The car driver, Amit Pawar, was arrested.
Around 12.30 am, the auto, driven by Sanjay Yadav (38), was headed from Naigaon station to Juchandra Road with two passengers, Akshay Kadam and Sagar Sawant. In their statement to the Naigaon police, they said the speeding car collided with their auto, which overturned. Yadav died on the spot. Kadam and Sawant sustained head injuries and are undergoing treatment. The car driver also sustained injuries.
Police said they are examining CCTV footage to determine the speed at which the car was moving. Both the auto and the car were badly damaged. Police said they are ascertaining if the car driver was drunk at the time.
