Mumbai: A 31-year-old bank employee died after a private bus knocked him down while he was crossing a road at Borivli West on Thursday. Police lodged an FIR against the bus driver, Mohd Kalam Khan (48).
The victim, Sairaj Chavan, lived in Borivli with his wife and parents. On Thursday, he left home around 8am for work as usual, along with his wife. Around 6.45pm, his father received a call from Chavan’s friend, informing him that he had been injured in a road crash near a restaurant on SV Road. He rushed to the site and found a private bus parked close by. Bystanders called for an ambulance and rushed Chavan to a Kandivli hospital, but Chavan did not survive.
Chavan’s father was later told that the private bus, operating for a tours and travels company, had knocked down his son. tnn
