Thane teen dies by suicide after parents confiscate phone to curb gaming addiction

THANE: A 16-year-old boy committed suicide because his parents took away his mobile phone to prevent him from playing games.
The boy just completed his 9th standard and moved to class 10. His parents enrolled him in classes for the 10th standard, and since the child was not concentrating on his studies and was constantly busy playing games, they confiscated his mobile phone, which led him to commit suicide.
The boy was identified as Aman Shahoo. He was a resident of Nevali village in Ambernath taluka. According to Hill Line police, Aman recently completed his ninth exam, and his parents enrolled him in classes for the 10th standard.
However, since he was not concentrating on his education and mostly played games on his mobile phone, his father took his mobile on Wednesday night. Police said that upset over this, Aman allegedly ended his life by hanging himself late at night.
The parents, who woke up in the morning, saw their son hanging and took him to the hospital, but he was declared brought dead.
Following the incident, the police registered an accidental death report, and further investigation is ongoing.
