ULHASNAGAR: A 23-year-old garment shopkeeper in Ulhasnagar committed suicide by hanging himself in his shop. It is reported that the shopkeeper lost lot of money in cricket betting app and was being pressured to pay the money, which led him to end his life.
The family of the deceased has demanded that the police investigate the whole matter and take action against those responsible for their son’s suicide.
The name of the deceased was Puneet Nandwani, and he was a resident of the VTC Ground area of Ulhasnagar.
On Tuesday night, Puneet ended his life by hanging himself after closing his jeans shop. Puneet’s father, Hansanand, said that on the day of the incident, his son was alone at the shop. He also used to go to the shop but did not go that day. When his son switched off the phone at night and did not return home, he went to the shop and saw that the shutter of the shop was closed but not locked. When he lifted the shutter, he found his son in this condition.
The family said that they do not understand why he committed suicide and said that once their son’s third-day rituals are completed, they will demand a full investigation into their son’s suicide from police.
In this case, the police have also seized the deceased’s mobile phone, which is locked. The local Vithalwadi police said that they have registered an accidental death in the case, and further investigation will be done after recording the statements of the family members.
