Vasai: A 15-year-old class IX student lost her life after being hit by a Northbound long-distance train at Saphale railway station in Palghar district on Thursday afternoon.
The girl was hit by the train while she was crossing the railway tracks even as the crossing was closed for the public and the train had received a green signal to pass. All were waiting for the train to pass, but she went ahead, unaware of the approaching train, eyewitnesses said. Eyewitnesses and the railway officials have confirmed that the girl was using her earphones when this express train hit her.The deceased has been identified as Vaishnavi Rawal, a resident of Maknevillage in Saphale. Sources have confirmed that she was on her way to tuition classes when the accident happened. An auto driver who was witness to the incident said that when the girl was crossing the tracks, several people screamed at her to get her attention and also waved at her but she didn’tnotice anything.
