Mumbai: A 17-year-old student was beaten up by a group of five men at Malad West while he was returning from an exam on Saturday. The Malad Police have registered a case of assault against the accused.
The victim is a first year junior college student and lives in Goregaon. Police said that he got acquainted with the accused over the past month. Around 5pm on Saturday, he was walking on Sunder Nagar Road when two of the accused came up from behind him on a motorcycle. They went across very close to him and could have brushed him. When they halted a little ahead, the victim went up to them to inquire why were they so rash. Three others, known to the duo on the motorcycle, were waiting at the location. The group verbally abused the victim before raining kicks and blows on him. One of them used an iron punch to assault the victim on his mouth. He was grievously hurt and a video clip of the incident went viral on social media. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and a police complaint was subsequently registered. The accused are in their early twenties.
