Sushant Lok 1 residents in Gurgaon battle contaminated supply; MCG cites pipe leak | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon: For the past 15 days, residents of Sushant Lok 1 have been struggling with muddy water — unfit for consumption — with no response from the MCG despite multiple complaints.
The borewells installed by MCG to supplement the GMDA’s canal water supply has become a major concern as residents claimed they were the source of the murky water.
Sudhir Sachdeva, a resident of Block C, said around “400 families have been directly affected”.
He said, “For the past 15 days, we haven’t received water — just mud. My son was diagnosed with typhoid and others are complaining of stomach infections, which we suspect are due to the impure water. Around 400 families have been directly affected.”
“We pay hefty property taxes yet bear these daily hardships. Clean drinking water is a bare essential, not a luxury,” Sachdeva said.
With no resolution, the residents are forced to depend on bottled water or private tankers to meet the daily requirement.
The residents also pointed out the lack of upgradation of water infrastructure to keep pace with the growing population in the colony.
The poor water quality has disrupted daily life, with even basic chores becoming difficult.
MCG’s chief engineer Manoj Kumar acknowledged the issue, citing pipeline leakages as a contributing factor.
“Our team inspected the area and the leakages are being attended to. The problem will be resolved,” he said.
Meanwhile, GMDA officials attributed the issue to the “flaws in the internal distribution network managed by MCG”.
Nitin Bhuie, another resident of Block C, said, “We have been forced to buy bottled water for drinking and cooking. It cannot be used for even washing clothes as water leaves stains. During the last four days alone, we called for three private water tankers.”
“If this is the situation in winter when demand is lower, what will happen in the summer? Even the civic authorities are not focusing on improving the infrastructure to boost canal supply at the tail-end areas despite huge population growth in the colony,” he said.
