Mumbai: To encourage the artistic qualities of college students in the state, a state-level college Marathi one-act play competition will be organised through the state’s cultural affairs department. State cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar expressed confidence that new budding artistes will emerge from this competition, which will be held in three rounds: rehearsal, preliminary, and final rounds.
The winning one-act plays in the final round will be awarded Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000, and Rs 50,000, respectively. Along with this, a prize of Rs 50,000 is set for the best spoken language one-act play. Additionally, prizes for best direction, lighting design, set design, colour, music direction, costume, and acting will be given.
“In this competition, a rehearsal round will be held at 36 centres in 36 districts of the state. The one-act play to be presented in the rehearsal round will be selected in the preliminary round. These selected teams will be given Rs 10,000 for the preparation of the one-act play. After that, preliminary round will be held at the headquarters of six revenue divisions in the state.
