Saif Ali Khan stabbing: Attack on such a big celebrity left a psychological impact on people, says Pankaja Munde
Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde calls for a thorough investigation and strict action following the January 16 attack on Saif Ali Khan by illegal immigrant Shariful Islam.

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde has expressed deep concern over the recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Munde emphasized that such attacks leave a lasting psychological impact on individuals, and called for a thorough investigation and strict action to be taken.
“We should not interfere in police investigation. The attack on such a big celebrity has left a psychological impact on people…Investigation should be done and strict actions should be taken,” said Munde.

The incident occurred in the early hours of January 16, when a man, later identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammed Rohilla Amin Fakir, illegally entered the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, targeting Saif Ali Khan’s residence.
The accused, a 30-year-old illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, had previously made headlines for his brazen attempt to rob the high-profile actor.
Following the attack, Mumbai and Thane police launched an extensive manhunt. A 150-member team, supported by CCTV footage, tracked Shariful’s movements across Bandra, Khar, Dadar, Worli, and Thane.
Key evidence came from the color and pattern of his shoes, which were captured in multiple footage clips. This helped officers trace his path from Bandra station to Dadar, then to Worli, and eventually to a hideout in Thane.
On January 19, Shariful was found hiding under a pile of leaves near Thane Metro’s casting yard, attempting to evade capture. After hours of eluding the police, he was finally apprehended.
During interrogation, Shariful confessed to the crime, admitting that his intention was to rob wealthy flats in Bandra and Khar. He claimed he had no knowledge that he had entered a celebrity’s residence. His true nationality—Bangladeshi—was revealed during police investigations.
Police also uncovered crucial evidence on his phone, including a birth certificate and contact details from his home country.
