NEW DELHI: Police have registered a case against unidentified persons who allegedly broke into the office of a godown complex and stole Rs 42.15 lakh cash from there in Maharashtra’s Thane district, an official said on Sunday.
The theft occurred between March 4 evening and March 5 morning at a warehouse facility situated in Kalher locality of Bhiwandi.
The perpetrators gained entry by damaging the iron window grill of the office.
The intruders subsequently broke into a cupboard and stole Rs 42.15 lakh in cash, which represented collections from 12 different companies, according to the Narpoli police station official.
Following a formal complaint, the police filed an FIR on Friday against unknown offenders. The case was registered under sections 303 (theft) and 331 (lurking house trespass or house-breaking after sunset and before sunrise) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
