Delhi assembly elections: 650 gm gold, Rs 7.50 lakh cash seized by Ambala RPF from Shatabdi

AMBALA:

In view of the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, the Ambala unit of Railway Police Force conducted checking of Delhi bound Shatabdi train and seized 650gm gold worth about Rs 50 lakh and nearly Rs 7.50 lakh cash from three passengers.
Sharing information about the checking, RPF Ambala Cantonment in-charge inspector Javed Khan said that in view of the Delhi assembly elections, the RPF is regularly conducting a checking campaign in the trains towards Delhi.
“We received the information on Sunday that some persons were smuggling illegal items towards Delhi through VIP trains like Shatabdi. The information was shared with RPF’s senior security commissioner Arun Tripathi and on his instructions, a team was formed to conduct checking in Amritsar-Delhi Shatabdi train 12014 enroute from Ambala to Delhi”, said Javed.
He said during checking 650gm gold worth about Rs 50 lakh was recovered from one passenger and nearly Rs 7.50 lakh cash from two other passengers.
“The passengers could not give satisfactory answers about the gold and cash and they were handed over for further action to the RPF post at New Delhi”, said inspector Javed Khan.
