Mumbai: Amid reports of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and his family getting private security guards, Sena minister Bharat Gogawale said it raises a question mark on whether or not the Thackerays have faith in the police.
“If they got private security guards, it shows they may not have faith in the police. If they kept eight private security guards over and above the police security apparatus, what other conclusion can you draw?” Gogawale said.
A Sena (UBT) functionary said private security was deployed recently and offered by an industrial house.
Officials said Uddhav Thackeray is given Z+ security. Rashmi, Aaditya, and Tejas Thackeray also have categorised security. Z+ cover entails a round-the-clock detail of 58 personnel, including armed escorts, guards, drivers, and a bullet-proof vehicle.
In 2023, ‘excess’ police personnel at the Thackeray home were withdrawn. TNN
