Kalyan youth succumbs to dog and cat bites

Kalyan: A 27-year-old man died recently after he was bitten by a dog two months ago and, within two weeks, by a cat here.
The health department of the KDMC said the man, Shubham Chaudhary, did not take the rabies injection on both occasions.
It said that three days ago the man suddenly fell ill and was admitted to Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai, where he died on Thursday.
The deceased was a resident of Golden Park. His father, Mahesh, said Shubham was walking around the society at night when the stray dog bit him. Since the wound was not big, he did not take the anti-rabies vaccine.
He said his son was going to his friend’s home when a cat bit him.
After he fell ill, his family first admitted him to Apex hospital, then to KDMC’s Rukmini Bai Hospital, and later to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa. Finally, he was taken to Kasturba Hospital, but he died during treatment.
Shubham completed his studies and was looking for a job.
His father demanded that the KDMC should take concrete measures to stop dog attacks in the city and surrounding areas.
Recently in Titwala, a pack of four stray dogs attacked an elderly woman and seriously injured her.
