Payal Kapadia's 'All We Imagine As Light' LOSES Golden Globe Award to Jacques Audiard's 'Emilia Perez'

The Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language was awarded to Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez on Sunday night, edging out Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light‘ in one of the most closely watched categories of the evening.
‘Emilia Perez’, has been a critical darling this awards season, garnering widespread praise for its inventive storytelling and emotional depth. Audiard accepted the award with gratitude, thanking his cast, crew, and audiences who embraced the film’s daring vision.
Meanwhile, ‘All We Imagine As Light’, which had been tipped by many as a potential winner, fell short despite its critical acclaim and historic significance. The film, has already cemented Kapadia’s reputation as a global filmmaking force.
Had Kapadia’s film won the award, it would have made history in becoming the first Indian film to win the Golden Globe.
Kapadia is also up for Best Director, however, she will have to beat out stiff competition from Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Sean Baker (Anora), and Edward Berger (Conclave).
‘Emilia Perez’ beat out ‘All We Imagine As Light’, ‘The Girl with the Needle’, ‘I’m Still Here’, and ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’ to clinch gold.
This was the film’s second award for the night after Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture, went to Zoe Saldana for her role as Rita Moro Castro. This was a monumental achievement for Saldana, who has long been recognized for her roles in blockbuster franchises.
