Cameron Diaz left her co-star Jamie Foxx stunned after making a cheeky joke about Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The actress, known for Charlie’s Angels and There’s Something About Mary, recently came out of acting retirement after an eight-year break to star in the new Netflix comedy Back in Action alongside Foxx.
While promoting the film, Diaz, 52, playfully commented on Musk’s growing influence within Trump’s administration. In a video shared by Complex, Foxx asked Diaz to reveal her favourite conspiracy theory, and she humorously discussed her views on aliens and the possibility of humans living on Mars. She then took the opportunity to tease Trump and Musk’s connection.
“If you think about where we’re at with technology, we sit in front of a screen, we don’t talk to each other,” Diaz said, before adding, “And we all know we’re moving off the planet because now Elon Musk is our president.”
Musk, who has donated millions to support Trump’s campaign and participated in various transition meetings, has become a key figure in Trump’s circle, with many speculating about his future influence.
In recent months, Trump and Musk have forged a close relationship, with the tech billionaire appointed by the president-elect to co-lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency. Musk has been given office space at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the White House, suggesting he will continue to have significant access to Trump after the inauguration on January 20.
Musk’s increasing role in the administration has sparked speculation and jokes about who will truly be in charge, with many poking fun at the situation.
