THANE: A non-cognizable offense has been registered against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra following a complaint filed at Wagale Police Station in Thane.
According to a senior police officer, the complaint alleges that Kamra performed a satirical song about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during one of his shows.
The complaint was lodged by Rupesh Mishra, a member of Yuva Sena from the Wagale Estate area. Mishra, a resident of Dharmavir Nagar near the Mental Hospital in Wagale Estate, Thane, approached the police station with his grievance.
On Sunday night, members of the Sena staged a protest against Kamra, following which the non-cognizable offense was registered.
Police have booked Kamra under Section 356(2) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).
