Thane: The Thane sessions court on Tuesday sentenced a Nepalese working as a security guard in Santacruz to life imprisonment for murdering a relative in 2021.
According to additional public prosecutor A P Ladvanjari, on Oct 22, 2021, Indra Mohan Budha (48) visited Padam Bahadur Thakulla (45), also a security guard, in Thane. But Thakulla and his wife denied him dinner and an overnight stay. The next day, Budha returned and fatally attacked Thakulla with a knife. The prosecution examined 17 witnesses and presented circumstantial evidence, including Budha being seen following the injured victim, both men being injured, and their presence in the room before the incident. Principal district and sessions judge S B Agrawal noted that Budha’s failure to explain the circumstances strengthened the prosecution’s case. tnn
