MUMBAI: Kurla police have registered a case of theft against unidentified persons for allegedly stealing three gold bangles from the hands of Kaneez Fatima Ansari (55) who died in the Kurla bus mishap on Monday.
Police registered the case after a video surfaced showing a man wearing a helmet removing the bangles from the lifeless body of Ansari. Her small purse is also reportedly missing.
Ansari, an attendant at Desai Hospital in Kurla, was standing outside the building when the bus hit her.
In the video, her body can be seen under a car, next to the BEST bus and the man, on the pretext of helping her, is seen removing her jewellery.
Ansari’s daughter, who approached the police to report her mother’s missing jewellery, called it an inhuman act. Police are also examining the video and trying to ascertain the person’s identity.
