THANE: A video went viral of local MNS leaders confronting the management of a prominent Thane mall following an incident where one of their male security guards allegedly assaulted a female Marathi auto driver over some dispute last week.
The video, which circulated on social media on Saturday, shows activists led by party Thane-Palghar chief Avinash Jadhav approaching the mall management.
They are questioning how they could tolerate male personnel, apparently a non-Marathi, brutally assaulting a Maharashtrian woman within their premises. The incident was reported on the same day as the Kalyan incident, where a feud between neighbours over Marathi-non Marathi issues occurred.

When contacted, Jadhav confirmed the incident, saying the security personnel apparently misbehaved with the woman over ferrying a passenger from the mall premises.
He said the woman told the guard that her auto was short on fuel, so she was looking for shorter trips. However, the guard apparently misbehaved, leading to an altercation where he slapped her, leaving her bleeding from the nose.
“We visited and questioned the mall management on Friday after someone from the woman’s side approached us. We have asked the mall to sack the guard and register a complaint. We will follow this case. The Marathi maanos may not have supported us in the elections, but we will continue to support their cause,” Jadhav told the media.
