Mumbai: Within three hours of a three-year-old girl’s kidnapping, the Worli police nabbed the kidnapper and reunited the child with her family on Wednesday.
Police said the little girl was playing outside her house in the Prem Nagar area of Worli when an unidentified woman took her along on the pretext of giving her chocolates. At the time of the incident, the girl’s mother was working inside the house while her father was out for work.
Soon after learning about the kidnapping, the family searched everywhere and finally approached the police. Several teams, under the supervision of senior inspector Ravindra Katkar, were formed, and CCTV cameras were scanned. Police traced the accused, Deepali Bablu Das (40), in the Worli area. Das, who is originally from West Bengal, told police that she works as a caretaker for patients in the city. She said she was missing her granddaughter, who is also around three years old, and hence took this baby girl. Police are verifying all the details.
