Maruti Suzuki Celerio price hiked! Gets 6 airbags.

Maruti Suzuki has upped the safety of one of its best-selling hatchbacks, the Celerio, with six airbags as standard across all variants. While the design, powertrain, dimensions and features remain unchanged, the addition of six airbags is likely to position it as one of the safest cars at its price point.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio: Price hiked

Speaking of prices, Maruti Suzuki has also revised the prices of the Celerio, making it more expensive by Rs 16,000 to Rs 32,500, depending on the variant. As a result, the hatchback now costs between Rs 5.64 lakh and Rs 7.37 lakh, ex-showroom. The highest price hike of Rs 32,500 applies to the ZXi+ AMT, the top-end variant in the lineup.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio: Safety and engine

Apart from the six airbags, the Celerio continues to offer a range of safety features. It comes equipped with an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, and hill hold assist, which is a segment-first feature. Additionally, all passengers now get three-point seatbelts. Maruti Suzuki has been focusing on enhancing the safety standards of its cars, and the latest generation Dzire even secured a 5-star Global NCAP rating.
Under the hood, the Celerio remains unchanged, powered by the 1.0-litre K-series petrol engine producing 68.5 hp and 91.1 Nm of torque. The engine is available with both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The hatchback also comes in a CNG version, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Fuel efficiency continues to be one of the Celerio’s strongest selling points. The petrol variant offers an impressive mileage of 26 kmpl, while the CNG version delivers 34.43 km/kg, making it one of the most economical cars in its category.
