Maruti e Vitara crash tested, launch soon: Check range, safety features & more
Maruti e Vitara crash tested, launch soon.

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of its first-ever electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, soon. The production-ready model was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 last month. Now, ahead of its official debut, fresh images have surfaced showing the e-Vitara undergoing multiple crash tests.
While the tests appear to evaluate occupant safety, they are likely internal trials conducted by the company rather than official assessments by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP. The images suggest that the vehicle was subjected to a frontal impact test, a side-impact test, and more. The e-Vitara will take on popular rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Mahindra BE 6.

The e-Vitara is built on Maruti Suzuki’s all-new Heartect-e platform, designed specifically for EVs. The SUV will be available with two battery options: a 49 kWh unit and a 61 kWh pack. Both use LFP ‘blade’ cells sourced from BYD. The larger 61 kWh battery claims an impressive range of up to 500 km on a single charge.

Powertrain options vary based on the battery size. The 49 kWh variant features a front-mounted 144 hp motor, while the 61 kWh version gets a more powerful 174 hp unit. Both versions deliver 189 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki is also offering an AWD version with a dual-motor setup, producing 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful variant in the lineup.
As for safety, it will be the brand’s first vehicle to come with Level 2 ADAS, offering features like automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. Other safety highlights include seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake, and AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alert System).
