Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announces Rs 2 crore aid to kin of constable killed in Gadchiroli Naxal encounter

NEW DELHI: The state administration will provide Rs 2 crore financial aid to the family of constable Mahesh Nagulwar, who lost his life in a Naxalite encounter in Gadchiroli district, as announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The 39-year-old special commando unit C-60 member sustained fatal injuries during a firefight with Naxalites on Tuesday.
The Home portfolio holder Fadnavis reported that C-60 commando unit personnel successfully dismantled a Maoist camp situated in Fulnar forest area of Bhamragad taluka in Gadchiroli during their operation against Naxalites.
Constable Nagulwar suffered bullet wounds in the encounter and was swiftly transported via helicopter to Gadchiroli district hospital, as stated by Fadnavis in his X post on Tuesday evening.
Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries and achieved martyrdom, the CM informed.
“Constable Nagulwar’s sacrifice in the campaign for a Naxal-free India will never be forgotten. His dedication to the nation will not go in vain,” he asserted.
Following the anti-Naxal operation, Fadnavis communicated with Gadchiroli’s Superintendent of Police and expressed his support for Nagulwar’s family.
Fadnavis announced that the state administration would provide Rs 2 crore financial assistance, alongside additional benefits and support to the bereaved family.
