Maha govt sets up committee to review rules formulated under RTE Act | Mumbai News

Mumbai: The state govt has set up a committee to review the rules formulated under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act of 2009, also called the RTE Act. Though the state govt has made periodic changes in line with the central govt’s directives, it is necessary to make timely improvements to address the challenges arising during the process of admissions to 25% reserved seats in private colleges. The scope of the committee, under the commissioner of school education, will be to recommend to the govt to amend rules notified in 2011, to consolidate all the rules notified by the state with regards to the 25% admission process and make necessary changes, advise the state on measures regarding legal issues arising from the reimbursement of fees to schools for admitting students in the 25% seats. The committee is expected to submit the report within two months.
