Labourer dies after being hit by 2-wheeler on wrong side

Vasai: A 19-year-old labourer died after a two-wheeler rider, on the wrong side of the road, knocked him down at Mira Road around 1.30 am on Monday. The rider fled from the spot. The labourer, Rajesh Luhar, who worked at a construction site was on his way home in Hatkesh locality when the two-wheeler hit him on JP Infra road. He sustained severe injury to the head, stomach and one hand. Rajesh fell to the ground after the two-wheeler bearing registration number MH 48 M 7616 , which was from the wrong side of the road, hit him. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment. The police said that they have identified the rider of the two-wheeler. A case causing death by negligence has been registered at Kashigaon police station. “The case is being investigated,” a cop said.
On Sunday, two women riding in the wrong side died as a car hit their two-wheeler in Vashi. —Vishal Rajemahadik
