Kia India has announced a voluntary recall for its flagship electric SUV, the EV6, citing the need for a software update in its Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The recall aims to enhance the charging process and optimize the performance of the 12V auxiliary battery, which powers essential features like lights, wipers, and the music system.

This recall impacts 1,380 units of the EV6 manufactured between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023. Kia has stated that the update is part of an effort to improve the overall ownership experience of the EV6. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified directly, and they are encouraged to visit authorized Kia dealerships to get the software update.
Last year, Kia had recalled 1,138 units due to a potential issue with the ICCU, which could have impacted the auxiliary battery’s ability to charge. A similar recall was also issued for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which shares the same E-GMP platform as the EV6.
