Mumbai: An unidentified person allegedly hacked the mobile phone of an IPS officer‘s wife and using her number the accused sent messages to some of her contacts asking for money.
The 49-year-old wife of the police officer lodged an FIR with the Byculla police on December 7. In her complaint she stated that on December 6, she received a message from the number of a woman, known to her. The message stated that she had accidentally sent a 6-digit number to the complainant and asked her to send the same code to her.
The complainant sent her the code. Later her police officer husband received a message from her number saying she had accidentally sent a 6-digit code to him and asked him to forward it to her. At the same time, he received a message on his other phone asking for money saying her phone was not working and she needed money and would return in two days. The complainant was logged out of her WhatsApp. An FIR for cheating and under the IT sections have been registered and probe is on.
