KURUKSHETRA: In support of the ongoing farmers’ protest at Khanauri and Shambhu borders of Haryana, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Charuni will hold a state-wide protest at district headquarters in the state from 10 am to 4 pm on December 20.
They may also be held in other states where BKU Charuni has its units. The protest comes when Sanyukt Kisan Morcha Non Political leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s health has deteriorated, for being on fast-unto-death for the last 24 days.
The farmers are protesting mainly for a law guaranteeing minimum support price (MSP) on all crops across the nation.
In a video released on Thursday, BKU Charuni national president Gurnam Singh Charuni said, “As you are aware the government is paying attention to the ongoing Andolan (Haryana borders). We have done meetings with our associates in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It has been decided to hold protests at all district headquarters from 10 am to 4 pm on December 20 in all states.”
“During the one-day symbolic protest, 11 persons will also sit on hunger strike. A memorandum will also be handed over to the government officials which will be addressed to the Prime Minister”, said Gurnam Singh Charuni, adding his union workers to participate in the protest in large numbers.
